Resimercial Zones in Today's Offices

Resimercial Zones in Today's Offices

COVID-19…I know, I know we are tired of that word and are ready to put it in the past! But we can't deny that it had an effect on our Workplace Environments!

Let’s dive in with some facts:

According to a study that was conducted by McKinsey & Company most employees would prefer a more flexible model after the pandemic.

In addition, it has been estimated that the average person will spend one third of their life at work

The question is how do I design a Workplace Environment that accommodates all employees while attracting and retaining new staff?

Even though there are countless other approaches, we want to emphasize the significance of resimercial spaces in offices today.

What is Resimercial? The resimercial space is a blend of "residential" and "commercial". Resimercial refers to an area in a corporate setting that combines both home-like and professional design. Incorporating resimercial into the design means bringing the comfort of home with the professionalism of corporate and merging them into a space that helps attract employees, making them feel comfortable, and therefore increasing productivity and effectiveness.

What is included in a Resimercial space or zone?

Consider the areas in your home that are most used. Many of us find it to be:

1) The Living Room

All of us enjoy how cozy our living rooms are. Consider incorporating that design with a corporate atmosphere. We immediately picture cozy places with soft seating, lounge areas, and additional perks. Comfort = creativity & innovation. Right?

2) The Kitchen

The Kitchen. So often when we are at home the best and most vivacious conversations happen here. Now, bring this relaxed feeling and vibe into the office with a café, standing height, bar tables, and multiple seating options that encourage staff to feel at home.

3) The Bedroom

We could be wrong, but we have not yet observed the use of actual beds in offices...yet! However, the atmosphere of a bedroom can blend in very well into today’s offices. To create an inviting and comfortable setting, consider fabrics, lighting, nooks, relaxing seating, and nature.

Resimercial zones provide a casual setting for employees to engage in informal collaboration and spontaneous interactions. These zones acknowledge the importance of work-life balance by providing employees with a space to take a break without having to leave the office.
